We are looking for our next Orientation Leaders and Spirit Leaders!

Orientations (Imagine UBC & The Spark) are a new student’s celebration, welcome, and orientation to UBC. It’s an experience that inspires, engages, and knocks the socks off our new students; preparing them for success in their transition to Sauder by building friendships with new and upper-year students. If you want to make an impact in the lives of over 700 new-to-Sauder students, and gain new experience that will set you up for future involvement opportunities, internships, and full-time jobs, then check out the job descriptions below.

ORIENTATION LEADER!

Orientation Leaders play a crucial role in the delivery of orientations by communicating with a group of new students in the month of August and providing direct, peer support to this group at both Imagine UBC and The Spark.

We are looking to hire 130+ leaders.

SPIRIT LEADER!

High energy, drive for learning, and a smile all packaged in one. Our Spirit Leader team will help you embody the Spark spirit through minute-to-win-it games, cheers down Main Mall, and make surprise appearances during The Spark!

  • Starting 2025, Jumpstart Leaders can also be a UBC Sauder Orientation Leader.

  • Absolutely not. We understand that orientations can seem like a loud, outgoing event, and admittedly, there is cheering. That being said, we have many different types of students coming to UBC Sauder, and we want orientation to be welcoming to all! We are looking to hire an Orientation Leader team that is balanced and representative of the UBC Sauder community, with all energy levels represented.

  • Attend a group interview virtual in May

    Complete Community Building Education online module

    Attend in-person Initial Spark (Saturday, July 26)

    At Initial Spark, Orientation Leaders will participate in a series of in-person games to help The Spark refine their plans for September. This day also helps Orientation Leaders bond and get to know each other.

    This is optional but very much encouraged!

    Attend virtual Meetings & Socials with your team of other Orientation Leaders throughout the summer.

    Will include up to 7 hours of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities.

    Attend mandatory in-person Orientation Leader Training (Monday, September 1, 2025)

    Orientation Leader Training is a full day of in-person preparation for Imagine UBC and The Spark, including team-building activities and logistical details for both events.

    There may also be online training (asynchronous/synchronous) in late August/early September 2024.

    Lead your group in person at Imagine UBC (Tuesday, September 2, 2025)

    Campus-wide orientation for all new students. Imagine UBC welcomes students to UBC and the UBC Sauder School of Business, and prepares students for their first few weeks at university.

    Incoming transfer students will participate in a different stream of programming than incoming first-year students.

    Lead your group in-person at The Spark (September 5-6, 2025)

    UBC Sauder-specific orientation program. The Spark builds community and school spirit through games and small group activities that allow students to have fun and connect with each other and their orientation leaders.

  • Attend a Social/Training (June)

    Meet the orientations staff, Spark exec team, and other Spirit Leaders! Hear the most up-to-date plans for The Spark 2025, learn more details about your responsibilities, and start working together to plan your big ideas!

    Attend in-person Initial Spark (Saturday, July 26)

    Initial Spark provides the opportunity to connect with execs, leaders, and other volunteers before the summer, and to participate in a “games test day” to help The Spark Exec in refining their plans.

    Attend in-person Orientation Leader Training (Monday, September 1, 2025)

    Orientation Leader Training is a full day of preparation for The Spark, and your chance to pull together the final details of your plans with your Spirit Leader team.

    Bring the Spirit in-person at The Spark (September 5 and 6 2025)

    UBC Sauder-specific orientation program. The Spark builds community and school spirit through games and small group activities that allow students to have fun and connect with each other and their orientation leaders.
